Visual briefing workshop

A half-day with your finance team on what belongs on page one, how much colour a board will tolerate, and how to write a source line that survives a question.

Some groups do not want us to keep the pack. They want their own people to stop arguing about colour and about whether a waterfall belongs before the P&L. The workshop is for that team.

Who should be in the room

No more than eight people. The person who builds the workbook, the person who prints, and at least one director who will actually use the pack. A workshop of only analysts produces prettier pages that still fail in the sitting.

What we cover

We work from your last pack, not from a sample. We mark page one together. We set rules for colour, for bilingual labels, and for what a source line must contain. We practice cutting a twelve-chart page down to three. We do not teach software. Bring the application you already use; we talk about the pages, not the menus.

After the four hours

A two-page note of the rules the room agreed, sent within three working days. That note is yours. We do not retain a licence over how you draw the next month.

Limits

This is not a substitute for a first commissioned pack if the current file is a forty-slide dump. In that case, commission the executive dashboard pack and hold the workshop later, once there is something worth defending.
